The day is finally here! A few of my colleagues and friends and I decided to take a bit of time off and make the trip to Rotterdam even more special by touring Germany and Ireland along the way. While the first few days will have me writing about our adventures, I’ll be updating about MxWorld when that kicks off as well. I hope you enjoy as much as I am having doing this!
Arrival in Munich
Brandon Etheridge and I set out from Florida, Matt Daniels left direct from Colorado (and the ‘Bomb Blizzard’), and Danny Hansen flew out from Arizona as we all headed to Munich.
Matt and Brandon split off to take in the dark history of Dachau while Danny and I went to take in the more cheerful history of BMW. I hope you like cars because I’m about to show off a bunch!
BMW VISIT
We took an Uber from the station to Olympic Park where BMW is headquartered. I grabbed the following shots to take in the venue and piece of history:
The “new” museum
HQ, where one of my colleagues spent many a night working late before joining EPI-USE!
I took around fifty pictures at the museums new and old but I’m going to carefully choose a few that stood out to me:
That real and white combo had me thinking a Jacksonville Jaguar player had ordered this one!
Evolution of the 3 series...made me miss my 335i
Matt said this was a Georgia Tech WIP (He’s alumni)
The rare M1. Such style!
Most kids into cars my age would have a picture of this car airborne
Stuttgart bound
We met back up at Central Station and literally hopped on a train as it was closing the doors bound for Stuttgart.
Along the way we saw the lush countryside with vibrant hues of green contrasted by the occasional quaint villages painted in the classic taupe we all think of on the German exteriors. We also saw tiny commune homes that were unexpected. This pic isn’t great but gives a taste of what we saw:
Once we arrived in Stuttgart, we found our hotel and after a short Check-in back home to our loved ones, we went out to a nice casual dinner at a nearby burger bar that was insanely busy. It did not disappoint!
At this point it was around 9:30pm and we were all running on fumes so we headed back to the hotel for a much needed rest after 40 hours of adventuring! It’s day two now as I wrote this up on my phone and we will be packing up and heading out soon for our next adventure. See you tomorrow!
